Lawn Installation and Irrigation

One part of your landscape that truly has an effect on your overall landscape is your lawn. If your lawn is full of weeds, bare spots, brown patches, or you have a newly built home, Chad's Landscaping can install a beautiful lawn using the highest quality sod.

Finish Grade

After a new home is constructed a yard may resemble a barren wasteland, and establishing a new lawn may seem like an overwhelming task. We have the equipment and expertise to handle such a job. The first rule of grading is that the ground should slope away from your house in all directions so it drops at least 2 or 3 in. for every 10 ft. The finished grade should also end up matching the level of existing fixtures; such as permanent walks and patios, as well as lawn areas that are not being replanted. A new yard may require the addition of soils as well as proper grading to achieve the best drainage. The top 2-3 inches should be screened topsoil. After the rough grading is completed, the topsoil can be spread and made ready for your new lawn. We then prepare for your sod by grading the entire property with wide landscape rakes.

Drain Tile Installation

Even if your property has no obvious drainage problems, all downspouts should be extended below the ground at least ten feet from the house. Ideally all down spouts would be extended below ground to the nearest swale. It is best to use solid plastic tile for extending down spouts. (Slotted tile will put some water next to the foundation when installed above ground and roots will grow into it when installed below ground.) Homeowners who have experienced the inconvenience and unpleasantness of flooded basements, wet yards and malfunctioning septic systems will agree that solving the problems created by surface runoff and poorly drained soils will not only improve your property and protect your investment, it is wise.

Sod Installation

Sod requires more skill to plant, but offers several advantages over seed. It looks good immediately and a sodded lawn can be used much sooner than seeded lawns. Sod is better suited to sloping terrain where seed would be washed to low areas after the first hard rain. Sod is also less susceptible to erosion while it is becoming established and it's harder for weeds to compete with sod. Sod is a bit more expensive than seeding, but it does have the advantage of giving you an instant lawn. Sod also has the advantage that it can be installed any month of the year.

Aftercare

After the sod has been laid, the new lawn needs to be deeply watered - so much so that water penetrates at least 12 cm into the soil beneath the actual sods so that new roots can form there. Be prepared to water often during the hot summer months.

Sprinkler System Installation

Your landscape reflects the pride that you take in your home and your neighborhood. An automatic irrigation system is the easiest way to keep your landscape beautiful. Save time and effort. Once an irrigation system is installed you'll never have to drag a hose all over the yard, never have to try and figure out if you've applied enough (or too much) water, and you'll never have to worry about watering the lawn while you're away. Attractive landscaping requires substantial investment and careful maintenance. An automatic irrigation system will protect that investment by assuring healthier, longer living plants and turf. Plus, installing a system is a convenience "upgrade" that will measurably increase your property's appraised value and curb appeal.

Our systems are professionally designed. We use only commercial parts and we use head-to-head coverage. This simply means that we use enough heads to efficiently irrigate your property, not just a head over here and another way over there.

We price our jobs by the number of zones (watering stations), not by the hour. Our rates will vary slightly depending on the difficulty of your landscaping (e.g. boring under driveways, concrete walls, drilling past and cutting through large tree roots, etc).

Upon completion we do a total walk-through with you and show you how to operate your timer and all emergency shut-off valves. All of our new installations are guaranteed as well as our repair/service.

Don't forget to protect your investment by winterizing your irrigation system. Preparing Your Irrigation System for the Winter Months, in areas where the ground freezes during the winter, it is imperative to remove the water from your underground sprinkling system. Failure to do so can mean an expensive repair/service call in the spring when it's time to water your landscape again. Our company provides this necessary service for a small fee, so consider it preventative maintenance, and make sure to get on their schedule early. Spring start up procedures are just as important as winterization.

We are also licensed and insured for your protection.

Fertigation System Installation

What is fertigation?

Fertigation is the process of applying fertilizer through an automatic, in-ground irrigation system. Ideally, true fertigation is applying small, consistent amounts of fertilizer continuously through an irrigation system to achieve the ultimate benefit. The most common nutrient applied by fertigation is nitrogen.

Create Beautiful Grass and Plants - Your grass, plants and flowers will develop healthier root structures, need less water, and will be more resistant to disease and insect infestation.

Better for the Environment - Fertigation delivers only what the plant can use and absorb so there's less run off available to affect streams, rivers and ground water.
